Wrapping soaps with tissue?

Hello All! I see that the 'label' topic can be an ongoing thing that soapers work on! I'm trying to figure out my label situation. I'm currently using wrap arounds with the top and bottom of soap exposed (semi gloss text paper, pretty lightweight). I don't like how they slide off. I came up with a solution, or at least an idea lol. I can put a 'pocket' around the bottom part of bar first and then wrap my other label around it with all the info, etc. My question is, can lightweight wrapping tissue be used or will it look 'greasy' after a bit? Will the oils seep into it? I searched around for info on this but didn't see much. Also, I've wrapped a few bars up for small orders, using nice gift wrapping tissue. It looked so nice! I loved the look and it made me want to wrap all of the soaps that way. I wonder the same though, will the oils seep through and onto the tissue after a while? Maybe i can find a lightweight kraft sort of paper instead... Any advice is greatly appreciated! Thanks so much.

The only thing I'd be concerned about with tissue is colour transfer. I've experienced colours from the tissue transferring to whatever I've wrapped.

Very good to know, thanks so much. I just decided a minute ago to try out unbleached bakery tissue. We'll see how that goes...

"Deli wrap" waxed paper works well for soap. The wax coating helps it stay crisp and not stick to the soap.

Floral tissue paper might work okay too -- https://www.papermart.com/p/dry-wax-floral-tissue/7815 If you are on good terms with a local florist, maybe see if they'd give you a sheet or two to experiment with?

I'd be concerned about plain tissue paper because I could see it sticking to soap in humid weather. Also the colors tend to run if the tissue gets damp, and the tissue is really fragile. Maybe something a bit heavier would be better?

Thank you! When using the deli wrap paper, do you put the wax coating side up against the soap or should that be on the outside?

I tried several different methods of wrapping. Then I realized that the soaps were more likely to be damaged traveling bath and forth to markets so started boxing them. It's a half box but it's much better than tissue, glassine, and just plastic wrap.

I use deli wrap and floral tissue for different soaps - the deli wrap is amazingly strong. I use it with the crease on the outside, if that makes sense - I’m not sure either side is more coated.
Floral tissue also is amazingly strong. I put the coated side on the inside and seal them with a sticker. These are stone shaped soaps made in individual molds.
I agree about transfer of colors from colored tissue, and I’m not sure regular tissue would hold up.
I have also used tracing paper which is amazingly strong and vellum paper. Also strong but sort of stiff.
I don’t think there should be oils leaking out of cured soaps.

Florist tissue paper is not strong enough, also any moisture, it will start to break down, it's not durable.

Thanks for all the responses, all very helpful! I ended up going with half wrapped bottom, unbleached bakery tissue. So far, so good! I put my wrap around band on over it and it stops everything from sliding off. Yay!

I reuse all packaging that comes into my house too - but literally just for repacking and mailing out. I have a little sticker that says "All packaging materials are reused/recycled. Nothing new was purchased to pack your parcel".

Same here. I reuse all of it, but for repacking and mailing out only. I love the sticker that you put on it!
