Hey all, soooo here it goes. I had two loafs of soap planned out. I took my time made sure everything was measured out correctly and the both just went to *@#, I went to make the lye for the first batch and remembered that I had saved and froze my carrot water from a previous batch of baby soap I had made. I remember asking if anyone here had ever used carrot water and nobody had. So last night before going to bed this soap was still super soft and mushy.
I had my first siezer! Yep on the second batch of it happened. I’d heard, read and had seen videos but yesterday had the privilege of experiencing it for myself. Wow, science is pretty amazing , I just wish it would not have chosen that particular moment to remind me powerful it is. I was soaping at low temperature so I think it must have been the FO I used. I just bought it and was giving it a try. Oh well we live and learn, hopefully

Oh no! I am dreading my first seizer! I'm sure it will come when I get braver and try new ingredients! Which FO did you use?

I about get a heart attack when my batch seizes! Panic sets in before I get to work and throw it into the mold.

Yes it (time) does move on doesn’t it. Well I don’t know how I did it but I went four years before having a siezer. Hopefully it will be another four or more till the next one.
One the second note, this soap seized so fast and violently that I could not even get it into the mold. I’m going to have to rebatch. Oh well, :smallshrug: Things could always be worse.

God bless

With seizing soap, let it seize in the the pot, let it sit a couple minutes, add about 2tbls cold water, and let it start gelling. You won't get pretty swirls, but once it starts to gel and with the added water, it will loosen up enough to stir and be able to get it into the mold.

An old trick I learned from @Zany_in_CO many years ago!

Also, never panic - it's just soap... :)

Once you get to that stage, accelerating batches, seized batches, volcanoing batches, they just won't fluster you. You'll learn to just go with the flow and accept that soap is going to do what soap wants to do, and all you can do is roll with it. :)

Ok so just now getting back to this. This was a completely new scent to me, that being the case I was certain that the oils and lye were both under 100 degrees. I assumed we were all good to go, this is when I once again was observed the greatnesses of God and all his power! I then remembered when I was placing my last order one of the FO saying something about being careful. It was prone to “seizing”. What a dingdong. When I read that I should have just move on to the next scent. I does smell really really good though.
