Ok so I get up this morning and half (one side of my soap) has lillte beads of oil on the top. Too me it looks sort of like the beading of oils I would get if I didnt add enough vybar to a candle, just incase anyone here is a chandler as well.

Other than that it looks dry and matte on top so I unwrap my mold and look at the bottom, its in a clear shoe box, and i can see just a little of the same oil in spots on the side and bottom.

grrrrr.. is this lye?? I really hope not. my thoughs is it was either FO or I have just plan sweated the poor thing to death by wrapping it and keeping it warm. right now I am at the 18 hour point the recipe said to set for atleast 24 hours so I may be worrying too soon. HELP!

If you just made it, I would wait until after you unmold and get ready to cut it before you worry about it, the oils will probably sink back in.
If after you cut it there are pockets of liquid, do the tongue test and if you get zapped, then yes, it's free lye and you will most likely have to rebatch.
Sometimes though if it gets a little too hot, oils like that will seep out, but will most always seep back in in time.

HTH

I've had that happen and the oils usually sink back in. Just give it some time before you worry too much! :)

Good advice from everyone and I agree - give it some time to re-absorb....if after a few days it`s still there so the zap test....

It's likely that your soap overheated and the oils will probably soak back in. If not, blot and give it another day. If it's lye-water though you will need to rinse the bars and sacrifice a few to check for lye pockets.

The level of insulation/heat needed to encourage gel is something that has to be customized to your environment, molds, batch size... It's a challenge!
