First draft...

Do you guys have any thoughts on using natrasorb/cornstarch/dryFlo/etc in butters, and which you like better? I'm deciding. This one is scented with White Tea and Ginger.

What does Dairy Queen use :?:

That one really looks like a large delicious mouth watering , soft ice cream cone ..Looks sinfully good , so light and fluffy.

I read on another forum yesterday that cornstarch encourages bacteria growth. I am going to use nutrasorb or dryflo from now on. I don't know if it is true , but not worth the chance.

Really? I've never heard that! Well, that's certainly not good. LOL! I did preserve mine though - even though everyone keeps telling me it isn't necessary.
Thanks for the compliment and the info, Kitn!

WOW!!! You do have that perfected!!! Lovely!!!

Interesting about the corn starch. DryFlo is INCI: Corn starch modified.

So basically the same stuff? I've seen silica powder used too, but the whole world is losin' their minds over it being mucho bad for ya. ::sigh:: I dunno what to use...
Thanks guys. :)

Does anyone know the cheapest place to purchase the dry flo?
Glad you started this post LJA, I was just fixing to start making some lotions!

I go back and forth on whether to add anything. Sometimes, I actually feel like my skin is drier when I use anything, rather than just leaving it without. I would say the jury is out on it at this point, for me anyway. My skin also tends to be dry anyway, which might be part of my problem.

Nice looking butter :)
I have the same problem with adding corn starch - that it dries me out moments later. I am also not particularly fond of the after feel it leaves. I also read that it will encourage growth :(

I think if you use some FCO and cyclo as part of your liquid oil in the mix, you will get a less greasy butter.

FCO and Cyclo? Can you tell me what those are? Thanks!

Hey guys -coupla things:

First thing is (Dixie you might wanna look at these) that Snowdrift farm has a product called "Skinflow" which is a modified wheat starch, and I think I read somewhere that Natrasorb is just modified tapioca starch, which is also what a product called Expandex http://www.expandexglutenfree.com/ is. It sounds like they can all degrease your collective lotions and spackles, and you might wanna consider those too.

The cool thing about Expandex is that you can get it in bulk food stores for less money, I'd imagine.

I'm an oily skin type, so I don't get the "dry" thing you guys keep talking about. Usually, I'm all about non-slime. So I guess if you're making it for others we need to consider skin types.

To confuse you further, Coastal Scents has a recipe that uses Rice powder, boron nitrade and silica powder. (They also whip their butter for 45 minutes....seriously. I don't do things I LIKE for 45 minutes.)

Sorry, FCO means fractionated coconut oil and Cyclo is Cyclomethicone (sp?) I believe WSP carries both of them :) HTH
