I saw some crackling candles at a show recently and want to try my hand at making some for christmas for friends. I can't find a source for the wicks though. Help anyone?
That type of wick isn't as easy to work with or use for candles.As some people claim them to be.
People are very quick to make them.Very few take the time to burn and learn.Not everyone uses the standard formulas,or wax types.
People buy the wicks,use what they have and now that's the standard rule.Most don't even bother experimenting with other brands of wax,to see which one the wick performs best in.I don't think their is enough (fair) candle information on wood wicks.
If you do any kind of homework on the subject you will see just what I mean.Visit a few sites that sell them.Some will say use only soy..Others claim palm..Very few mention that you need wood wick tabs.They don't stay in position without them.
Before you give them out.Make sure that the recipients understand that those candles are no joke.The wick itself I think is just a fad..People out there won't be able to grasp the concept of how the rules change with those wicks.
No matter what you do,if the candle lacks anywhere it's on you.Not the container.That's how some people view it.That's the way it should be.They didn't make it or sell it.But the Chandler did!
