I made a batch of Tallow soap last night and I was thinking of taking part of it and handmilling it to add cedar oil (that I use in my yard to control biting insects) for a pet shampoo. The dogs already get the oil dosed on them so I know it's safe, but I'm more curious as to whether or not the tallow soap is a good pet soap. How about for cats?

Tallow should work fine, makes a nice creamy soap to wash your critters.

I use neem oil for a dog/cat soap, but it's not a scent. I just use 10% neem oil as part of my recipe then I use a little Virginia cedarwood oil and spearmint to mellow out the smell. Sometimes I add oatmeal - it's really great for dry itchy skin. People and dogs.

Seems like I have heard never to use essential oils on cats. Does anyone know if that is true?
