I made a batch of “Castile” type soap about 6 weeks ago. I used 70%OO,12.5% C.O., 12.5% PO. I just tried one bar to see how I liked it and noticed that being a very nice bar of soap, I didn’t get a lot of bubbly, but it was nice and creamy. My question is, will this soap tend to get harder and bubblier as it cures longer? Soap calc tells me that my bubbly is a 9 on a scale of btwn 14-46.
I have made soap from 100% lard a few years back and the bars I have left are wonderfully bubbly, creamy and clean like nothing from a store, but they have been curing forever. Soap calc gives this on value of 1 for bubbly on the 14-46 scale.

I have read that some people like to cure their castille soap for a very long time, and even that it's best after 6 months! But as far as whether it will get more bubbly, I don't know for sure. Hope someone else can help a little more :)

on all my castile soaps, i get a dense creamy lather rather than a bubbly rich one. the more pure the castile soap (closer to 100% OO) the less 'bubbly' i seem to get. even with castor and co added at small percentages i don't get big bubbles. afraid that's just the nature of OO!

In general, as soaps go, they all get bubblier the longer they cure, but as Northland Naturals said, the closer your Castile-type is to using 100% olive oil, the less bubbly it will be as compared to one made with less olive oil. You can 'help' the lather be more bubbly, though, with the addition of a little friction via the use of a nylon pouf or a facial cloth. I get a really nice frothy lather going with my 100% Castile that way.

My 50% OO Castile-types need no such 'help', though. They are quite bubbly all on their own.

I didnt like my soap with high oo, but I have one from 6 mths ago and its ok now! Try another recipe if you want bubbles and dont want to wait forever. I really like this oo, po, co, castor and maybe some shea or cocoa butter.

It does get better with age.I hated my castille at 6weeks so didnt make more but 11mths down the track it's lovely still no huge bubble factor but it does have some! and it feels beautiful.really liking it now.

Castile..creamy..not to bubbly

Its sort of what I suspected about the OO not having a huge bubble factor but I wanted to experiment with making this soap because I’ve read about so many people that really like it especially the ladies. I actually made two other batches with a little less OO and some CO and PO and it does bubble up a little more and probably will really cure out nicely over a few more months. My wife really likes one of these softer, creamier soaps that I’ve made though and uses it for her face. Thanks for the input everyone. :)

I’ve come up with 4 different recipes for more “Manly” harder bars with lots of “bubbly” based on some advise from those in the forum using PKO, CO, CB and a couple more harder oils. Mickey (xyxoxy) for one seemed to be super savvy on this showing me how to compare the different properties of oil using Soap Calc. Anyway, the next soap I make will be “guy bars”.
