Just wondering why would you not want your soap to gel? Curiousity always gets the better of me!

I almost always gel. The few times that I haven't was because I was using pastel colors and wanted the appearance to remain lighter. :)

I didn't gel my milk/honey soap because I wanted it to stay a pretty color. I hate it! It's sticky and it's only 6% SF and a good recipe. After that I've gelled everything.

milla, is yours the one that has the honey on top of the soap? I know that if you use slightly too much inside the batch and don't have it all mixed thoroughly, you will get a sticky soap. It looks pretty for a decoration, but doesn't really do anything but get everything sticky. In the ones where i had a lower amount of honey and mixed it well into the batch with a touch of oatmeal, it smelled divine.

No, I made mine awhile ago and never posted pics. Maybe I put too much honey in it. Just made an oatmeal and honey batch yesterday and gelled it. Now I have honey spots and my oatmeal was too fine. Can't see it. I give up!

I didn't gel my goat's milk either because I wanted it to stay whiter. Everything else I gel. Will I not gel the GM later? I'm not sure, I think gel is better than partial gel (well it's prettier...)

what does gelling do, in terms of usefulness? does it make the soap last longer, get harder, clean better?

enquiring minds want to know :)

Nope . Ungelled soap looks softer and creamier , gelled looks more translucent . That is about it .
