Hey all,

Tried to make some soap today, and I forgot to add my main oil (crisco).

Was wondering why it traced so fast. After I poured into the mold, I realized I never added my main oil.

Oops.

My question is twofold:

Will the soap be usable even though I forgot to add my main oil? I'm guessing the lye concentration will be much too high and will leave me with a caustic brick of unusable stuff.

and,

Is there any way to add my other oil now or later?

Thanks in advance

Since it's most likely going to be lye heavy, you can just take your entire batch & the left out oil and rebatch it right now.

Yeah, what Genny said, and I think all of us do this at least once. I left coconut oil out of a batch and tried to melt it down and incorporate the oil, but it didn't work. I would think if you rebatched it, adding the extra oil, you could save it.
