Hi,

Its been a while since I've made any soap, but I did bring some soap out that I made last year around this time, and I noticed that there are white spots. I've not seen these before and was wondering if anyone can give me some feedback on what they are.

Here are two photos,
1 - the original
2 - the original with some circles on it to show them
Thank you in advance
p,s
the soap was made using a soap calc

I think that's either some sporadic small amounts of soda ash, or what people call stearic/palmitic spots - or a combination of the two. As long as your soap doesn't zap, it's all good - it's just cosmetic and in this case - not even that visible

THANK YOU !

You are my hero ! for replying

I had not realized how stressed and anxious I was about this, until you replied.

I was horrified when I saw them, and my mind went to the worse possible scenario of what it could be, and what happened, and I was so devastated to think that I might have to throw my soap out.

No throwing out, that's blasphemy! 😆 Glad it turned out well in the end - I know what it's like when that bug inside your mind tells you stuff and tries to scare you 😁

I agree with @dibbles - and from what I've seen, soda ash actually appears more easily where there are holes from bubbles and adds to that effect visually - you actually have a combination of 3 possible culprits 😃
