Hi debsmad,
please use the seach function; there's a wealth of information on this forum when you look for it...
To get you going:

Shortly put, you come up with a recipe with a lot of solid oils/butters; whip them with whisk attachments on your stickblender or electronic anyway. Can't imagine do do it by hand. Put them in the freezer, add cold lye solution, whip & freeze zome more.

Sound moire difficult than it is; it's really a lot of fun when you get the hang of it.

Makes a very light and nice soap that floats in the bathtub.

I have used the search function many times and it's frustrating when it brings up ten thousand posts where people 'mention' the words in talking about something else.

I hear you Deb ..

Nizzy is the King of whipped soap so follow that link and you'll be set to try it .. Must do so myself one day, if only I had a mixer with steel bowl :?

I use a glass bowl.Think it's just so long as it'll hold the cold? Works fine for whipped shea too!

My Kenwood is about 20yrs old (still works great!) but the bowl is plastic :([/quote:15zdgbv0]

On the mixer subject,I was at executive chef last week & looked at a Kitchen Aid.Wow those machines are a thing of beauty. But they're near on $700! They have a whisk attachment(great for whipping scrubs & shea apparently!),enamel coated body & bowl....Have added mixer envy to the covet list! Making do with the $20 ebay mixmaster til I win the lottery :)

 Allright. I bought a relatively cheap stick blender with whisk attachment for under 50 bugs. Plus two large plastic bowls. Works like a charm :D
