I just made for the first time some whipped shea butter....it came out awesome!!! I love it!! My question is that I ended up making more than I had containers for and ended up putting it in just some random jars that I had. I do have some smaller jars that are on their way to me...and I was wondering if I can re-melt this and re-whip it? And if I can re-melt will the consistency be the same the second time around?
Thanks for any insight you guys might have!

This is a pic of it last night as I put it in containers...was like the consistency of whipped cream. And then this morning it was a nice firmer consistency. It is scent with Oatmeal, Milk & Honey FO...just cause I really love that smell :D

p.s. WOO HOO!! figured out how to post a pic!

That is beautiful did you just use Shea or did you cut it with other oils as well?

Thank you guys!

I found a recipe for 10 oz shea butter and 6 oz carrier oi (I used Grapeseed oil) and 2 tsp cornstarch.

I made this for someone who requested it and they want to buy some for gifts....so I said ok I will give it a shot. But now trying to price it...I have no clue. I have looked up prices and they mostly seem expensive. Although, now I am confused. I ended up using some 4 oz canning jars (cause this was just a trial run)...but a 4 oz jar only holds about 1 and 1/2 oz by weight. So now I am confused about what I am seeing for prices. I have seen some places that a "4 oz" size is being sold for $15-23 and a "2 oz" size $8-12....so are they selling it by the jar size or the actual weight of the product??? Any thought appreciated!!

I have also been confused about this but I read an articlefrom bramble berry that said if you were using say a 4oz bottle to put lotion in ,even if your weight is differernt you can say 4FLoz(fluid) and have labled it correctly,so I apply the same to my whipped butters. I know what you mean about prices being asked from different places (really expensive) if you live in an area that can support a high price then go for it I say.
I ask 7.00 $ for a 4oz jar of whipped shea, but I also let people know that elsewhere they will pay much more. If I do a show I put some in a dish with popsicle sticks and let people try it ,I have sold out everyone everytime and ended up taking orders for more. I usually only scent with EO's but occasinally FO. I also love the OMH. :)

Thanks! And glad I am not the only one confused  I will have to look for the article from BB. And OMH is great...although I guess I should consider what other people like if I want to succeed :D

Wouldn't it be more efficient to consider the cost for each item and divide by the amount of containers you use (or something like that)? I can't remember the exact "equation", but shouldn't you consider the cost for everything you use instead of just the size of the container? Am I rambling?

I sell my 4 oz Body Buttesr for $19.95. The way I come to my pricing is I take the cost of my oils and other ingredients, add on the cost of my packaging including labelling and times that by 4 for my retail pricing. They sell like hot cakes and I can't keep them in stock. People are used to paying much higher prices for these butters that are produced commercially and have much more for fillers in them.

I take the actual weight of the product rather than the size of the container if that makes sense?

The town I live in runs summer feeding programs because of the amount of children whose families are at or below the poverty level. I HAVE to keep my prices low. However out of town I charge more depending on what that town can support,I'd rather have returning customers than no customers as demand grows I can gently raise my price, I sell a 3-4oz bar of soap for 3.50 which is comparative to what others sell for.
