Hi,

I am trying to make a whipped body butter but everytime i try it goes hard! I want it to stay light and fluffy! I want to use a REALLY basic recipe - like 2 or 3 ingredients. Does anyone know a good recipe - it is driving me crazy!!

I was using cocoa butter and olive oil and someone mentioned that it goes hard because of the cocoa butter and i should use an emulsified product... what is this?

Can anyone help me??

Thank you :)

that was me. an emulsified product is one in which oil and water are both present - and mixed together with the help of an emulsifier to keep them mixed (remember, oil and water don't normally stay mixed). Lotions and creams are emulsified products and are not greasy like a pure oil product would be (a butter is simply a solid oil, by the way)

What you posted above will be very nice, will not actually harden, but will be very rich and greasy so apply only a bit.

cornstarch might, IPM might help, some cyclomethicone maybe.

but it's still just grease, so don't expect much improvement

I made my whip with 75% shea and 25% olive with 3% Lemon EO. It is GREAT! Tried it last night after my bath and my skin drunk it up. Its not too greasy and very moisturising! The girls at work all want a jar for their desk to use as hand cream! It is very rich so only needs a little amount, rubbed between the fingers so that it melts and massaged into the skin - perfect! Thanks everyone!
