where to get?

I have made some melt and pour soaps but i would like to try my hand at cold process soap. Where would i be able to get all the ingredients like lye and the oils? Is there any stores that would carry them? if all possible i do not want to order online...i am trying to avoid the shipping costs since they tend to be pretty pricey. Thanks

Hello and welcome! Here is a great recipe from one of the Mods here. You can get all the ingredients at Walmart!

You should be able to find lye at Lowes. Roebic brand is sold in the plumbing section.

Remember to run ALL new recipes through a reputable lye calculator like

www.soapcalc.com

do your research on how to make soap before you actually begin, so you know what your doing when push comes to shove.

anywho yep you can buy most things locally

but just remember not all oils are created equal and you need to have the amounts right for each one.

Start by reading the info at Kathy Miller's web site. It is considered the "A" in the ABC's of soap making basics. The Wal-Mart recipe is a good recipe! Try it when you are ready!

Thanks for the great info! I have been doing a bit of research...i just wasnt sure where i could buy the ingredients!
