Where is the best place to let your soap cure? My choices are limited but I do have some space in the laundry room, garage and basement.

My soap room is in the basement .I have my curing racks there too. We run a dehumidifier .Unless my garage was climate controlled I wouldn't cure soap there.

i put my soap in a card board box, wrap it w/ a blanket and put it on a shelf that hopefully none of the cats can get to.....seems to work for now.

I put mine on racks on the top shelf of the downstairs built in wardrobe. I have heaps of shelf space up there, and I have organised the shelf so that they are in order of who cured first. And I put little labels just so I know what the scent is, what oils I used, and the date made.

My unfinished basement is perfect! It smells great, as well. We live in Utah so it is a dry basement. I know that some people have issues with basements being more humid, tho...

Doesn't it smell great SimplyE , I can smell my soap scents when I walk in the back door , I love it .

mine are in my laundry room. That's the only place I have right now that is 100% pet free. It doesn't get very hot in there, I have a good vent system going and there is an a/c vent in there and it's a small room.

I got some shoe racks from walmart and they are on there. One day I'll hang them on the wall and make a wall or racks. I got the idea off someone else's soap room.

The top of my bookshelf in the front room.

Since I am making soap, even the top of my bookshelf gets dusted once a week.....

It's pretty much the only room I have.

I have a soaping corner in the basement. I actually make the soap in the kitchen, but down in the basement I have a large hutch with all my supplies, next to it is a table with my drying rack. Soaps are arranged oldest to freshest - left to right. I have a notebook with batch numbers and every single detail about the soap. When a batch is completely gone, I can mark it in the notebook so I know there is no more on the rack.
I am starting to outgrow the rack though so I have an idea for expansion. Once I work it out I will post it.

For those that use the basement does it work well, I have a totally unfinished basement I could work with so it has me thinking I might use that.

Thanks for all the responses!

I lined the top of a wide shelf with wax paper and lined my soap up there. Then I laid a piece of wax paper loosly across the top.

in my cottage, separate from my house, i got kicked out! hubby doesnt like the smells. I have ac and heat out there if needed, i think it smells great out there.

We live in a very mild temperate area, so my soaps cure out in the garage on stainless steel racks.

I bought a similar unit to this at IKEA...

Mine has 6 drawers instead of 4 and I opted to do without the wheels.

It is stored in my garage but the best part is I can simply remove one of the baskets and take it where I need it depending on what step I'm doing.
Now that I think of it... the OTHER best part was the price. Oh and they are stackable when I'm ready for more.

That is AWESOME! Thanks for sharing! That will help me out a lot. I think I saw something similar at Target the other day.
