What's the difference between butters and oils?

Sorry for the newbie question, but what's the difference?

By definition, oil is liquid at room temp. while butters are solid at room temp.

You can buy shea butter or shea oil. The oil is a liquid at room temp, while the butter is solid at room temp.

It's the physical state of the matter.

Some oils are solids (e.g. Babassu oil) too. Butters are the fats cold press from the seeds (kernels) of the plants.
