I posted last week about my first time HP with a shampoo bar recipe. My recipe was (in %):

CO 3
Sunflower 5
Sweet Almond 15
Avocado 10
Castor 8
Olive 59

SF @5%

Added in a bit of sugar a salt to lye water. Added FO at end of cook and before molding. And I added the tiniest amount of shea after my soap gelled...like the size of the tip of my pinky finger.

I cut my bars...they looked wonderful! Smelled wonderful...then I tried the little soap ball that I amassed from the crock pot in the shower the other day.

Not good.

My hair was super oily. I was going for a shampoo bar that had a high conditioning factor, but this was just ridiculous. :wtf:

Any suggestions on how I can improve on this? Is it possible that the FO made it oily? I'm considering trying the same recipe, in a small test batch, with no fragrance to see what happens.

Any thoughts and suggestions are welcome!

Adding that shea after the cook was just basically a tiny superfat boost - unless your batch is freakishly small.

Silly question, but how long has the soap cured? I know you HP'd it, but 4-6 weeks cure are still needed for it to be at its best.

Another silly question if its well cured - did you lather up really well? I find that I really need to lather my hair up like a shampoo commercial to get my hair nice and clean. However I do work outdoors in a grubby job, so that may be just me...

I have to lather like a shampoo commercial also. And I don't have an outside grubby job.

But, yes, I also suspect that dab of shea after the gel. Also, you are really heavy on the liquid oils there. A longer cure time would be a good idea.
