So a guy at my work is willing to make me a soap cutter how ever he asked 2 questions I do not have an answer too.

What type of wood (he says this matters and is very important) and what dimensions.

I told him I have no clue. Any suggestions or good soap cutter tutorials?

It all depends on what kind of cutter you want. there are so many out there, so many styles. There is the miter type, the guillotine style, the cheese cutter kind.... So, what kind are you planning on the guy to make?

My husband just made me one, we picked up a melamine covered shelf from lowe's so that it would be easy to wash, I had a cutter already (wavy pampered chef veggies slicer) so he made it about an inch wider than my mold (which he also made) put some sides on it..in 4 separate pieces (leaving a gap for the cutter) and then nailed on a small piece between the walls back from the gap (1 inch from it, so I can push the soap up against the small piece, slice, repeat for even bars). He also made the open end long enough that my whole loaf will fit on it, so I don't have to worry about it falling and messing up my cuts. I think the whole thing cost about $10
