What to do with bar soap loaded with KOH?

yes, i will cut them in half today and check the middle parts... this way it will give the chance for the soap to be exposed to air more thoroughly, and hopefully, neutralize the zappines altogether..


which brings me the question: does rebatching really necessary then? not talking for this batch, but i mean, if curing can "cure" this sort of thing....
 
If you wait long enough the cure ( good long cure) will fix lye heaviness. Most people are impatient though, and the danger is that someone will be selling and think- that is long enough. . . And it's not.

After all there are people who think 4 weeks is all good, so they might wait 6 weeks. That may not be long enough, and as DeeAnna pointed out the middles might not be done even if the tops don't zap.

So the answer really is rebatch is unnecessary if, and only if you are willing to wait it out.
 
Kudos to you for having the patience to wait it out. It's good to know that a long cure can be helpful even with this much lye excess.
