My favorite place to order from (won't mention names, as I don't want to get spanked) shorted me. I ordered 2 oz of pure rain FO, went to soap it today, and there was only 1.735 oz in the bottle, even after holding it upside down and fiddling with it for 3 minutes :(

Usually, I get at least the amount I ordered. For the size batches I do, 2 oz is what I need, so it kind of chapped my rearend. I've heard this one was kind of strong, so I wasn't going to add it to the max, and was going to hold a little to the side to add to my lotion base. I guess they decided for me how much I should put in my soap

I don't know that it's really worth it to call/email and complain for a 1-time shortage of less than 1/4 oz, but I needed to say somethin' to someone

Hi Deda

By weight.

Also, just as I was starting to pour, I noticed the level was a little short of what my other 2 oz containers have been.

If you're sure your scale is accurate, at least bring it to their attention. If it happens again, definitely complain.

One thing to check-- did you happen to open the bottle at some point and leave the lid off for a bit? Oils will evaporate if left open to the air.

Just got it last week. The only time it was open was only long enough for me to smell it, then my wife smelled it, then the lid was firmly recapped.

I might let them know. I just don't want to bitch about it, because they are a really great company, and I don't expect them to ship me 0.25 oz, and I also don't feel they need to send me another whole 2 oz.

Just frustrating. If we get more than we expect, it's almost expected. However, if we're shorted, how dare they? :) I don't know. I don't expect more than I pay for, but I would like to get the amount I paid for as that is the amount of I'm planning to use in a batch, usually.

Oh well.

It would be frustrating for sure and technically you paid for it , but stuff happens . I am sure people get more than 2 or 4 oz at times too . I figure in the grand scheme of things it all averages out .

Oils are lighter than water, so it may be 2 liquid ounces.

Most oils are 120 ounces (weight) per gallon, or 7.5 pounds. Water is 8 pounds or 128 ounces, since the ounce standard is based on water, one liquid ounce of water = 1 ounce by weight.

So according to my math, oils weigh approximately 6% less than water. So if you got jipped by ~.25 ounce (weight) on a 2 ounce order, that would equal ~11%... so even by volume, you got shorted a little.

I still wouldn't jump to the conclusion that it was deliberate. They probably just pour into a 2 ounce bottle and figure "close enough". Just like gas pumps aren't as accurate as you might think....

Some oils are heavier than others. You can not go by volumn.

PS There will be no spanking unless you call the company dirty names or proclaim you would rather walk through burning coals than ever shop w/ them again...

nope, still love 'em, and will definitely shop there many more times :)

still don't want to mention names, though, as I don't want someone NOT to shop there, just because of this. if you've paid any attention to my posts, though, you'll probably be able to guess, as they are my favorite place and where i have made most of my orders

i feel better, having vented to friends now, anyway :)

Agreed, however, when you need a specific amount it is very hard to remember stuff happens. It probably does average out in the end, but poor Salty was jippppped and he needed that specific amount. Ktn is right though, I am sure we all get MORE than we pay for sometimes too. Sorry Salty, I would let the company know just so they are aware of it.

I totally agree with letting them know . Any good company would not want that happening on a regular basis .
