I've made some gift baskets. One for my mom for mother's day with a picture of the two of us on our vaction (her first one ever and first trip to the ocean). She said it was the best mother's day present ever. The second one I made for a friend's wife who just finished her Air Force Tech School. Both of them have some bath salts I mixed up to add.

And I did my first swirls EVER tonight. I'm sure the colors aren't going to be great together, but I was pretty happy that I was able to mix it, hold the divider into the mold and pour both colors without help!

Now I have to go clean up the kitchen. Or make MORE soap....not sure yet.

What great gifts, I would have been very happy to have recieved either basket...they were both very nice. :)

Thanks everyone. I just cut the swirled. It turned into a lavendar and kind of tan-ish.

I think I poured it too thick because it didn't actually swirl. I have a lavendar side and a tannish side. I'll take some pictures in a bit.

But I think it'll be good to use and I learned something. And now I can make more soap to practice again!

I also made a 100% lard yesterday with a bit of a higher lye concentration. I'm almost out of the Ivory I have for making laundry powder and I'm going to let this cure and try it.

It's a gorgeous white cloudy looking soap.

What beautiful gift baskets. I would be really happy to receive one of those..
I really like the way you did your swirls, too, with the different colors on each side. Nice job!

Thanks for the compliments. My 20 year high school reunion is in a couple of weeks. There is going to be a silent auction to help defray some costs and I'm going to make a couple for that.

I was a little nervous about giving it in baskets since I haven't been doing this for very long (didn't want anyone to have a reaction). But I'm only giving out what I've already used, is thoroughly cured, and what I've already given as samples. So far so good.

And dollar store shrink wrap is AMAZING!

the swirls didn't swirl inside. Oh, and as a bonus... I spilled almost the entire bottle of blue coloring when I was cleaning up. I am a clutz!
