I know how much I've spent in the search for the perfect soap mold. What is the most you'd pay?

Hmm, Since I lust after your molds... I would say hundreds.

I am sooo cheap I can barely justify $20.00 for a mold. Bought a tray mold right off the bat fo $38.00 it makes 18- 5 ounce bars. That purchase just about killed me. I am in the process of designing my own.

I'm a cheap-ass too. If I reaaaally loved it, I do $50, but sadly I have more pressing things to pay for lately than molds. Like my kids' education & band camp (this one time...)
But let. me. tell. you - once these shrimps are outta my house, MOLDS FOR EVERYONE!!!!

I guess i fall into the cheap ass catagory because I just can't seem to be able to fork over big bucks for molds. I use pringles cans, plastic loaf pans, and a wooden box my brother gave me that looks like a drawer. Recently I have purchased several silicone muffin type molds but only if they were cheap. I have found a mold that I want to get but it's hard to part with the money, when I could use the money for EO, FO, and other supplies. There are soooo many things for soap making that I want, but I guess I'll have to wait.

Well, IF this were a business for me, then maybe $100 or more, but I don't sell, so I cannot justify spending that much on a mold.

I do need some new molds though and just spent $23 something on materials to make 2 new log molds today.....I went with Poplar because I want them to last. And I am going to make them like the ones in Keith's DIY tut on youtube. Thanks for sharing that BTW!

All that being said, if I had the spare $$ I would definitely have to get some soaphutch molds.....a couple of log molds, a divider mold would be nice too.

i woulnt even pay 50$, my hubby is a carpenter( or used to be, owns granite company now) makes mine, for prob less than 10$.

hubby just made me a slab mold, it cost 4$ in material and 15 minutes of time! IAM lucky! I line with contact paper and it is so nice.

I'd pay alot for the right mould.
My last mould purchase was a Nizzy mould, which was around $50, australian. But he has got some others that i've got my eye on that are upward of that.
Having said, that, and I know this isn't a mould, but if I could buy a tank over here I would.

i've spent $14 on silicon loaf pans.....which work well without having to line.....however i do lust after a nice square piece of soap which i don't get with these...they are more trapezoidal shaped bars. some day...sigh....but i don't have any idea what mold would be worth plunking down the big $$ for...if i had them that is

If there was such a thing as 1 perfect do all mold , I would pay a lot for it.My hubby has made me 5 log molds and I made my own slab mold. I did buy some on ebay when I first started soaping .

The most I've paid for a wood mold is $13.50. I know spending for molds is an investment especially a well made mold. I've had this wood mold for four years now and no problems at all.

I'm painfully cheap. I bought a 4lb wooden log mold for $12 off ebay with $10 shipping, and even that made me feel super guilty. :p $25 is my limit!

My latest mold is a 2# log made for me by a friend at work. All he wanted in return was a pan of brownies! :)

I think my most expensive mold cost $36 which included shipping. I hate to pay mega bucks for molds too.

molds

Sadly, I've paid mega bucks for my molds. I have two main molds that are custom designed silicone which were.....well, let's just say, expensive.

And my soap hutch mold, three chambers, 13-inch log molds which was more than $200.

I've easily spent close to a grand on molds over the past three years.
Sigh.

I see it as this. Although the mold may cost quite a bit, if it contains stuff like silicone inserts and is specially made like dual logs then its worth it. I do not make cp soap I make rebatch so my process and use of the wood molds will not be the same. Now, when I do decide to make cp soap I will invest in a great mold because I'd rather spend 100 dollars now and have this mold for years as opposed to replacing mold every few months.

I am a hands on type person and I made my own from wood. Spent $6 on a 14 ft 1x4 and it made 3, 12 inch long molds with enough to make another one if i get some wood for the ends ( no lids ).... my mistake was letting the guys at the lumber yard cut them for me. Not so straight on the ends but they work. I will do my own cutting next time. LOL
