Hello everyone. Any idea what these spots are from in my soap? This is my Goat Milk and Honey bar that I made last weekend along with two other batches of Goat Milk soaps (different recipes but same goat milk and honey). I noticed these ugly spots immediately after unmolding and cutting. This only happened once before but with an entirely different recipe (cedarwood & fir). No obvious signs of oil/fat rancidity (no foul smells).

Here are the details/recipe:
10 oz. Olive Oil
8 oz. Lard
8 oz. Coconut Oil
4 oz. Sweet Almond Oil
3 oz. Mango Butter
4.67 oz. Lye (5% SF)
5.9 oz. Water + 5 oz. Goat Milk (33%)
1 tbs. Honey (Raw honey mixed with 2 tbs. of water)
1 oz. Orange E.O.

I mixed everything at 80 to 85 degrees and set on my porch for 12 hours (refrigerator temps or cooler) then inside, uninsulated for a day and a half before cutting.

Hi there, I am seeing lots of spots!

First, there is a darker, partial gel ring in the center of each bar.

Then there are some splotcy lighter spots which looks like something didn't get mixed in all the way, or that some of the milk fat saponified pretty quickly.

Finally, there are really small white dots that look like a mix of stearic spots and air bubbles that were popped during the cut.

Good news, it is all just cosmetic so your soap should be fine to use. :)
