Hello, I am new to the CP method. I started with the M&P and quickly became addicted. I have tried different recipes, finally found one that puts out a very nice bar that i am happy with. The problem is I can't get it to smell the way I would like it too. I use lotions instead of adding fragrence oils. To me it is more moisturizing that way. With the M&P way I had no issue but now I have tried adding different amounts. It looses most of the smell quickly. I cant add anymore to the recipe, it becomes too soft.
I have been using a basic recipe untill i get more familiar.
i use... coconut oil, olive oil, vegatable oil, lye water, and sometimes I add goats milk. The only other thing I add is the lotion.
Does anyone have any suggestions?

I don't know but i have never heard of adding lotions to making cp soap. Maybe you can add avocado oil, cocoa butter or even shea butter to your soaps, i believe these are moisturizing to skin. i have used these in my soap and they moisturize my skin. i have always used fragrance oils to scent my soap and they scent my soap very well, depending on what fragrance you use. i don't think lotions will give off a strong scent since they have a small percent of scent in them. Also at what percent do you superfat your soap, maybe you need to use a higher percentage in your superfat. hopefully someone else will chime in to help you or give you more info than i can.

I honestly don't think that you're ever going to be able to get predictable fragrance results from using scented lotions to scent your soaps. You're going to need to pick up some skin-safe fragrance oils or essential oils to get good results, imo.
