ok, i made body butter yesterday and dont really like it, the cocoa butter took over the fo and i used a sb, so its not real fluffy, could i throw it in soap? its just whipped up oils?shea, cocoa, vit e, olive, jojoba.

If you could plug in the exact amount of each oil that you used in to soapcal I sure don't know why it would not work.

I premelt big batches of my soap oils, so I don't have to weigh them individually each time.

Sounds like it would be the same thing...

What Vickey said, but don't forget to discount a little lye for the bowl scrapings that would have reduced the overall amount of oils.

so even though ive whipped the crap out the oils they should be fine in soap?

I would think that if melting them does not alter them in some horrible way, a little whipping would have no adverse effect either. I do not believe it would alter their structure at all since you did not add anything else.

better yet, weigh what goes into the soap pot so that you don't need to guestimate.

Whipping it doesn't change anything - soap away.

mine doesn't, as far as I can tell, but some say it smells a bit "piggy". if you heat gently that is probably minimized.

If you are not real sure about your quantities of oils you used you may be able to guesstimate them and make your soap to be grated up later and mixed with Bicarb and Soda Ash and then use it in the laundry. This way no children or animals will be harmed. Steve :D
honor435 I wrote the above and then looked at how many posts you have, looks like me telling granny how to suck eggs. :D

I make an anhydrous body butter and as I don't add a preservative I put a 'best before' date of 6 months on the label. Any I have left over after that get made into soap. I just weigh the total and work out the % of each oil/butter that I used - easy peasy!

Tanya :)
