EEEKKKK!!!!
Ok so I did this cpop soap, sugared walnut..all was going well, an dthen i realized air got under the cover..uhg!! I cut them and set to to dry..had to see what they would do..well the ash that had formed on the top continued to GROW..LOL It was ugly! The scent turned the soap this icky brown on the clear part and this weird dark green on the colored brown part! So after a few weeks of avoiding eye contact with the dreaded ugly soap..I grabbed it and a toothbrush and headed to the sink. I actually really like the bubbly effect the ash created on the top after washed off! Check these out, before and after shots. So the lesson learned? Dont trash your ASH, Embrace it baby!!

Good save!!

I've heard of people spraying alcohol on the top of their soap to get rid of the ash. I did it tonight (on soap that is a few days old) and so far it looks like it's worked! I sprayed a few soaps about 5 hours ago and they still look a teeny bit wet, but it looks like it took care of the ash.

wow, that was some Ash.

I do sometimes get ash, mainly on ungelled soaps, but it's really thin and I kind of like the effect, especially on white soaps. Makes it look like sugar dust. Shame it doesn't come with glitter built-in ;-)
