Just wondering...

Does anyone here change their water discount when working with a recipe that has a lot of soft oils like castor, walnut, avocado, sunflower, etc?

Am curious to see if I can do a water discount (like what I did for my OO soap) with my facial bar so that I can unmold it earlier. Logically, I could still do it so thought why not. :)

Yes!

My default is a 2:1 ratio, water to lye for most recipes, and I tend to emphasize unsaturated conditioning oils. I think that works out to a lye concentration of about 33-34%.

Many people push it higher and go up to 45% for straight Castille.

I'm not that brave!

Oops, I created this in the wrong forum and didn't realize it until now! Can someone move this to the CP forum? Thanks so much!

Thanks for the tips, Judy. I'll try it out and let you know the outcome! :)
