Hi all,

I intend to embark on my third attempt at using titanium dioxide. The first two attempts resulted in glycerin rivers- I did wrap the batches up VERY snuggly, LOL.

One suggestion was to put the batch in the freezer/fridge. Can someone please explain this process to me? E.g what do I do directly after pouring batch? Pop it straight in the freezer? For how long? Then transfer to Fridge? For how long? If I use this method, is it likely I'll have to wait longer until i can unfold and cut?

OR should I make as per usual, this time not wrapping so heavily in towels/blankets?

TIA

Cooling it will halo avoid gel. Not insulating will most likely result in a partial gel, depending on your house, mould, recipe and so on.

Pop it in the freezer for 12 hours then the fridge for 12 hours - guidelines, as if you think it is still heating up in the fridge, pop it back in the freezer.

You're right, unmoulding and so on will be delayed. When your soap is out of the fridge, keep an eye on it to see when to cut it

I freeze almosy of my soaps to prevent gel. I usually make soap between 12 and 3 in the afternoon and pop them directly in the freezer. I usually pull them out the next morning and set them on the counter. I check them occasionally to make sure that they're not heating back up. So far, I lyrics a couple have.

I don't know you're recipe, but I'm usually able to unmold my soaps later that day or early the next day and cut a few hours later. So my soaps spend roughly 8-12 hours in the freezer, 6-12 hours on the counter, and I cut immediately after unmolding or as long as the next day depending on how busy I am and how firm the soap is.

In contrast, the few soaps I do gel, I can usually unmolded and cut as soon as they reach room temperature.
