I'd like to try using marshmallow root powder in my HP bar soap. I'm thinking about mixing it with water and my honey and adding it last. Recipe is 25.40 oz total wt (oils wt. 16.40 oz) so I though I would start with 1/2 t. Does this sound OK (I've never used this before). I typically add silk peptide so I am assuming the marshmallow root would take the place of the silk.

What are you trying to accomplish using the marshmallow root powder? If you use just the powder it will just act as a very light exfoliator. If you infuse it in oil you may or most likely will not get much of the properties leftover in your soap. If you dissolve it in water and add it in you are going to add in mucilage which in my opinion is just going to add slime to your soap. Marshmallow Root is known to be used in conditioners and detanglers.

Along with using it in detanglers, I have infused it in oils for use in balms after straining it well.

I have a ton of marshmallow root powder at home (was planning on trying it in a syndet bar), but I'm intrigued as to how it would affect the soap. I have some throw away oils and might try too.
