Would using both Kaolin Clay, and silk, in the same batch of Cold process soap make my soap too slippery?

Having added different additives over time, for me the silk and clay are separate. I now add both and don't find them too slippery.

Thank you. I feel better now about trying them both in my next soap.

At what proportions do you you guys add? I often add silk but for some reason am afraid of adding clay (it is one of those bogeymen like milks to me, I am afraid of seizures.)

I use a tablespoon for a 500g batch. I have never had a problem with acceleration

I too am terrified of soaping with mammal milk, but I use clay all the time and never noticed acceleration from it. Just make sure you hydrate & disperse it well before adding.

If it makes you feel better, I've never had any seizing from clay (although full disclosure, I've never used it with silk). Clay is actually really nice to work with, whether for texture or color. It's a lot more versatile than it sounds. Let us know how your batch turns out! :)

1 loaded tsp ppo of clay and a pinch of silk - by the time you stretch it out to make it dissolve easier you have plenty.

I use both in almost all my soaps and they don't give me any trouble. I like the silky-slip both provide. Don't worry... it's not too slippery!
