i just poured my first funnel swirl and it looks pretty good. but i'm wondering do i cover it w/ freezer paper or not to prevent ash from forming on the surface?? i would think if i do it will disrupt the pattern???? i covered w/ a heavy magazine and put it all inside another card board box and wrapped in a blanket which is what i normally do to cure it......

You could spray with alchol. I cover mine with plastic. Everyone says not to let it touch but I do and it peels off and I never have ash. You don't HAVE to cover it at all unless you are insulating it. If you are putting it in the freezer or fridge you don't have to cover it.

Post pics when you can! :)

Sometimes I cover soap, sometimes I don't; sometimes with freezer paper, sometimes with saran. If I cover, it lays right on the surface of the soap. I treat swirls no differently than plain soap. As Dixie says, the paper/saran just peels right off.
