I found that my hosting company has osCommerce available and found I liked the features way better than what I was using (Easy Store Maker Pro). So this week I have been busy building my web store and getting product in it. There are of course a couple of things I don't like, but over all I am quite pleased. Now my customers can have a permanent shopping cart, track their orders, look at purchase history and opt in for newsletters. It also allows a couple of different options on payment, PayPal, Credit Card or COD.

So far the feed-back from the customers has been positive. This takes a bit more work, but it is worth it and I wanted to share it with everyone here...

A couple of the photos aren't loading and I don't like the default template....

I think it will need quite a bit more work, and yes, that's a pain in the behind. I love osCommerce, but I found to get any decent templates, it costs a lot, which is why I ended up with ZEN cart.

i love to see interesting pic,
i think you need to photo your product with nice background
maybe put some spices

for example honey soap, put some honey

Lindy -

Every thing loaded fine for me and it's easy to navigate. I did notice that you haven't listed sizes on the products. This may not be important but when I like to know the size of something I'm considering purchasing. On the Bastile product page, you mention CO and castor but you don't mention olive. I always thought that Bastile soap had to have a high percentage of olive.

Another thing I noticed is some of the descriptions state or imply physiological changes to the skin. I'd read that you can't state anything along this line because then the item would be placed under a drug category instead of a cosmetic category.

I don't know if this helps you any.

Thank you ladies..

Hazel thanks for pointing out the Bastille description - Ill go fix that.

Here in Canada because soap falls under cosmetics we can make claims of moisturizing, conditioning, as long as it's not medical we're good to go. I appreciate you taking to the time go through it and point these things out. :D

Yup sometimes it's worth having those extra regulations because we do get to make some claims, just not medical.

I went in and fixed the Bastille as well as put some of the weights in. The problem when I get into packaged products is that I can put in the ingredient weight or the weight including the packaging depending on whether someone is trying to determine shipping or not.....
