Well I had an unexpected twist I thought I would share!

I made some castille liquid soap a while ago, and added a very light amount of sweet orange and tea tree essential oils. After using the soap my hands smell just like a glazed donut! I can't stop sniffing! haha.

Anyone else had a weird smell come out of your soap like that? (At least mine was pleasant!)

OMG, I could eat my weight in plain old glazed donuts. Sounds like you got really lucky!

Yes! A couple of weeks ago I added sugar to a tried and true recipe at 1 tablespoon/lb of oils and some musk oil at .5oz/lb of oils and got soap that smells exactly like banana bread batter. Still smells that way. I hate it, but others like it. Tried my first tester bar yesterday just to see how it's curing, and the lather is about the same bubbly, a little creamier, and MUCH longer lasting, but it doesn't rinse as easily and feels greasier & more slippery relative to this recipe's normal output.

We'll see what it's like two and four weeks hence I guess, but I've been surprised at F&F's positive reaction to the scent. It also tastes sweet BTW.

That''s so funny!. I do sometimes get a cinnamon-y smell from adding 8 different essential oils, none of which are cinnamon, heh.

Off topic: I also have a baking recipe called: "Muffins that taste like donuts"

- so yummy, and not deep fried!

OK. You've got to share that recipe.

That's so funny! I bet it smells awesome. (as for the taste ... !)

Woodi, yes, please with the recipe!

Sorry - been away on silent retreat for 8 days, got back Saturday, still doing laundry and shopping (and catching up on talking, hehe).

Yes Dennis, that's pretty close to the recipe I use. I always use butter, never shortening. I believe that it's the nutmeg which gives the batter the donut taste, and then dipping the cooked muffin into a butter- sugar-nutmeg-cinnamon topping even more so.

I'm sorry to continue the off topic discussion but this sounds wonderful! I'll have to try a batch but I don't have real butter, only margarine and shortening. :(

Woodi -

Thanks for mentioning the muffins that taste like donuts.

Dennis -

Thanks for posting the link.
