Can any UK soapers out there tell me how to get safety assessed? I'm trying to find a chemist that can do the certification for me and I'm having very little luck.

This is something I'm looking for more information on also. I have no plans to start selling my soap any time soon, but I aspire to one day. I'd like to know how to organise things, gather all the information needed and as you say, get safety assessed. I'd also like to know the cost involved and if anyone could recommend someone in the Glasgow/Scotland area.

Hi both
Before you go for assessment I would urge you to experiment (a lot), it's only by trying lots of batches that you'll know which you are happy with in terms of base oils. How will your soap hold up after 6 or 12 months?
I use a cosmetic consultant for my certification, she is very knowledgeable on all things handmade and runs courses accross the UK. Her website is www.worldofmoulds.co.uk but for certification email her at [email protected].
For information on PIF etc, you could have a look at www.fresholi.co.uk, join the forum, there's loads of info on there, the more you post the more opens up to you! I'm a Mod there so you'll be treated real nice :D
