I made my last batch of salt bars for awhile this morning and things went a bit wrong. Between the coconut milk and FO, I had severe acceleration before I ever added the salt. Once the salt was in, I had to really mash the batter into the molds.

I'm not quite sure if they are ugly or full of character lol. They are my personal bars so I'm not over concerned with the appearance. I'm just glad I got the mess molded. Scented with dragons blood, no colorant added.

the worse of the bunch

Character for sure. There are no ugly soaps :shifty:

Just out of curiosity, which dragons blood did you use? I'm thinking of order some from NG. I'm so put out with BB right now, I don't feel like throwing them any more of my $$.

I do like your salt bars. That natural color is appealing to me.

I'm with you, some soaps just have more character than others.

Also with you on the BB thing. I just removed them from my vendor list last week.

Thanks, I almost feel like giving one of them a name:shifty: Unfortunately, I don't know the dragon's blood supplier. I got it from a local soaping supply store and they won't tell me who their FO supplier is. I wish I could get the info out of them, I love this DB and they have a coconut lime that is to die for.

The bars will get much darker over the next week or so, DB drastically discolors to a really pretty dark reddish brown. I like all the FO I've got from BB but I haven't tried their DB. New Directions Dragon Blood is supposed to be very nice but it accelerates, maybe thats where mine came from, naught stuff.

according to the scent review board, NG DB is nice and it sticks well. Discolors to chocolate brown.

So they are a little unique...still cool looking! I have only used DB from BB and I like it a lot. I always add some black salt to them so no idea what color they turn on their own. I really like the color you got going on here!

I would personally not waste my money for DB from NG. California Candle supply has the best dragon's blood I know of, and I am a connoisseur of DB :-D. In fact it was made for me... You will have to call them because it is not listed on the site. He saves it for me, but just tell them Carolyn referred you. It does not go as dark a brown as most DB, sticks like crazy and does not accelerate. It is a winner. I have tried DB from most suppliers and I could never find one I was completely happy with until this one. I am trying to get CC to carry more fo's and now most of their fo's are in the process of being reformulated to body safe. If you try it let me know, will warn though, a good DB is not a cheap fo. NG's is a very weak DB, hence the price. BTW I do not work for Cal Candle, he is just a friend from my weekly market

I think the soaps look good. They look handmade. I would definitely use one of those. (wishing I had one);)

Thunderwagn,

I get my Dragons Blood FO from ElementsBathandBody. I LOVE it and have been buying it for quite some time.

Here is my Dragon's Blood Soap. BTW, I also use it on Bath Fizzies and it's wonderful.

I think they look just fine, glad you were able to get them into a mold at all.

Not ugly at all! What gave it that color? The salt? I want to soap with some of the naturally red salt and naturally black salt, but I can't find it for a price that doesn't make me cringe.

This is what I used for my first DB batch- I tried a salt bar. I ground up both the red and black to almost a powder which turned it almost dark black purple. They turned out really nice actually just not what I had planned.

Next batch I tried it with the salt again but as a powdered pinstripe that I totally failed at and ended up chopsticking it through the soap. Still turned out cool but again not what I had planned.

I found both salts at Home Goods for like $4 for 8 oz, I think.

This is the best thread ever created on the internet. Never laughed so much

I'm so curious now about the issues people are having with BB ::nosey::

I think the soaps look nice! Going to try my next salt bars in individual molds. Last time they didn't work so well in a loaf mold because of a fragrance acceleration.

Me, too. I don't want to order from BB if I am going to have problems. I don't sell my stuff, so I need to not spend money where I am going to get problems. Please share what happened or send me a PM.

I removed them from my vendor list mainly due to long shipping times and the poor customer service I received when I emailed them. (regarding some scents that were rated for cp, yet fell apart in the soap, really long shipping times, etc.) I figured the long times, two weeks or so, was because they were in Wash and I'm in S Texas. Then I ordered from a company referred to me that's in Oregon and got the shipment in 3 days. haha

I'm sure they have some great stuff. I just had too many non refundable scents, damaged shipping items and long waits to keep doing business with them. Just my opinion.
