Can someone please tell me what type of soap you use for HM soaping. Is it ok to grate down Ivory soap for this?

Hi, you could grate the ivory down .I think you would have a much nicer soap if you made some CP and then grated it .

If you do a search on the net , there are lots of tutorials for HM all kinds of soap.

You are so right I'm going to try cp and hp. I was scared to use the lye but I'M A BIG GIRL NOW .... LOL

Good for you , once you use the lye once , it is not so scary , as long as you have your goggles and gloves.
Wishing you great success with your soap..

When I first started soaping, I started out by grating ivory soap, it was suggested in a class I took and it is a great baby-step toward soap making. For me, it told be some basic properties about soap, like "it melts", it made me do research, because I was afraid of lye to, plus I had a lot of time on my hands waiting for supplies.

Then you will be so god-awful dissatisfied with your handmilled work  because no matter what you add to ivory, it still smells like ivory, you will leap into hp and cp and never look back!
