Okay so tonight I was a little adventurous and decided to try swirling with two colors instead of one. This is just as lesson that you need to master one step prior to moving on to the next one! I must admit, the scents that I used have made up for the not so good swirling. I used Pomegranate Fragrance Oil with Orange Essential oil and it smells so good.

Anyway, I let the soap get to a light trace and poured in the mold and while that was getting set, I had already poured some of my oils into separate containers with my ultramarine colors so I was ready. I held the colors us high so it was get into the soap and then I used my skewer to start swirling but for some reason, the colors didn't rise to the top as much as I expected. Any advise?

When I do swirls, I've found that pouring high does get them down into the soap, but the swirling will only move them where they are, so if they're deep, those swirls will be deep. Swirling does not bring much of the color to the surface.

For the effect you seem to want to get, I would say that you should pour some high, so it gets in there, and then go back over the surface of the soap, pouring from much lower so that it sits on the surface, right on the surface, and THEN swirl. Then you'll be swirling both the internal and surface color at the same time. Or you can pour from high up and get that soap down below the surface and swirl, then pour very gently close to the surface and swirl again but with only the tip of your skewer, putting it in, say, 1/4 to a 1/2 inch and keeping the motion very superficial.

Regardless of what you wanted, your soap is quite beautiful and your swirls are really nice. Wouldn't know it fell short of expectations, that's for sure!

the tip of your skewer or whatever you use

I'd be happy with that.I love the colours that you chose.

They look great! And more of the blue will show as it gets used. That's one of the things I like about swirled soap-the way it constantly changes as you use it. Beautiful soap!
