today i decided to give my home made laundry soap a try...i really didn't think that it would do a good job like the way store bought detergents do, boy was i wrong...it worked really well and am impressed that it did a good job..my clothes smelled nice, clean and fresh, was afraid that it would not take out odors but it did, but then maybe it was because i added some baking soda to it, anyway i will NEVER EVER use store bought detergent again...love this stuff... :)

Yep i'm converted to the home made laundry liquid, I made a double batch up 3 days back and it turned out great, we spend big dollars on the store brought for our front loader but we won't go back to that again. :D

yup you are so right about that...now i can save some money since i won't be buying those expensive laundry detergents anymore.... :)

Did either of you scent it? I'm about to make a gallon batch very soon and wonder what or how much to add. Don't want too strong a scent, but would like something. :)

Yes, I scent all my batches, sometimes with Tea Tree oil or Eucalyptus or Lavender, I put in enough to make it noticible when making it up, its really up to the individual.

This time round I put a bit too much in because when I took the lid off the smell was pretty powerful but then after making the first batch I realised my bucket of hot soap/water mix was leaking over the floor so DD and I had to work quickly to transfer it into another bucket, we only lost about 250 mls thankfully, and then I made up the 2nd batch with a bit of extra EO to make up for what I lost in the first batch. :D
