Really fed up this week end. Three batches messed up
1. Tried to use yogurt in a small 16onz batch. Totally seized!! Will not be using that again!!
2. Next batch without yogurt totally seized with the fragrence.
3. Last batch used fragrence I've used before. Attempted to zebra swirl and put TD in half, but that traced faster than coloured part so didn't get to do zebra more like monkey lumps!

I've read loads to posts on here telling newbies not to sell their soaps too soon and to get some experience behind them first - how right you all are. Can't imagine how upset I would be if these batches were for selling. Back to the drawing board!!

welsh black, you just had a bad weekend, don't give up ;) I'm sure the next batch will be awesome!

Oh I am so sorry ....... I have had one batch seize recently I can't imagine 3 in a row :( At least they were small batches and the next 3 will make up for the 3 you lost or can you rebatch????

Don't give up. We've all had days/weeks like that. You'll find what works best for you and then still have things go wrong. Keep your head up and keep on soaping.

Sorry for the run of bad luck!

Yogurt by itself shouldn't cause seizing. Heating, yes. Seizing, no. I suspect your FO.

From where are you getting your fragrances? They sound tricky.

I know it's a pain, and it makes for yucky poo colored soaps, but rebatch it. When my "pretty" soaps misbehave due to a FO, or my oil temp is too warm I chuck it in a pot and cook it. Sometimes the color can be salvaged by adding additional colorant. I don't have a photo, but I had made a vanilla goatsmilk soap that I made my very first peacock swirl with (left the top unscented)...forgot to leave it UNcovered and came back the next day to a large oil spill on top that was my FO.Threw it all into the crock until it was nice and melted and an ugly shade of brown....added cocoa powder to it and added Chocolate cake FO to it, and my friend thinks it's my best bar yet!

I've re batched the two worse ones today, never re batched before but I looked at the info here and it worked out great! Thank goodness for this forum. One book on soap I had suggested much more water than you guys. I threw in some more colour and they look good ill post some pics tomorrow

So frustrating! I'm glad that you were able to salvage a couple of batches. I find td to thicken the batter faster than other colorants so I always leave the td out of it's portion until I've got the other one(s) done and they are at the trace level that I need to pour. Then I work with the td portion of the batch. That way all of the different portions/colors will be at the same level of trace.
