First I did my first salt bars (hooray!!) -
Tomato Basil Salt Bars (for the kitchen)

Then I did a tea soap for my SIL (this is the one that totally flopped)
Lady Grey

Then I did my first RTCP/Whipped soap!
Mint Chocolate Cream

and finally (for tonight), my first rebatch
Carrot Cake Rebatch - NOT pretty! LOL

and a nifty thing I noticed when grating for the rebatch - so I went back and just kept the last 5 bars and trimmed them up to look like this instead of rebatching them.. lost a lot of soap in the trimmings but I can melt THOSE down and keep these pretty bars!
Carrot Cake Re-Cut

and here are some of my recent ones:

Blueberry Pomegranate

Fredericksburg Peaches & Cream
(from the Local Soaps Project)

Thanks for looking! It's only 10:30 so if I get a second wind, I'll wash up and make Prickly Pear and/or Poteet Strawberry for the Local Soaps. :D

They all look great. You definitely have a natural ability for soap-making. Isn't it just the best fun ever?
Your tomato salt bars came out great, just wait till you try one, you'll love them. And they will harden up heaps more, I made some and they were really crumbly, then they hardened right up, now they are like hardened smooth stones, they are so nice to have in the shower when it's really hot, because they always feel cold to me!!

Ohh, Lil Outlaws - so many gorgeous soaps! You really are talented girl  The tomato salt bars (bloody mary) look amazing and the rebatched carrot look good enough to eat. I have seen the peaches and cream before and it really does look like a peach cream smoothie. the recut carrot soap is a little hard to see the detail - have you a pic side on? I wonder if they will darken up evenly over time?

Looking forward to the prickly pear soapies

Tanya :)

The re-cut ones are strange..

When I poured the initial batch, it was GORGEOUS. The swirl was amazing, to say the least..

Then after cutting and drying, it looked like it had a partial gel and it was very dark... UGLY.

So I decided to rebatch and started grating it up.. only to discover a peculiar characteristic inside.

The broad sides are basically a random and gentle marbling of the peanut butter and chocolate colors.. something that is gorgeous but I couldn't replicate it if I tried!!

Oh my you were busy! They all look amazing! I really love the Blueberry Pomegranate and the Peaches & Cream, oh yeah and the Salt bars.....hmmmm - I know I think I need you to send me all of them to try so I can figure out which is really my fav! 8)

Looks like the FO discolored the batch. Once the middles are exposed to the air, or they get much older, they will probably all turn that dark brown color. :(
When I first started soaping, I didn't realize that fo's like strawberries and cream, or raspberry cream had vanillin in them, and ruined quite a few batches. (Well, not ruined I guess, they were still good soap, just butt ugly - LOL)

I love your tomatoe basil salt bars! Could you share the recipe? I understand if you don't want to. I have never really heard of salt bars until I came here so I want to make some and see what they are like. I love bath salts and what they do in the bath. You did a great job! My, you were busy that day!!

They do look yummy!!! The bottom on reminds me of peanut butter cups. I have noticed that "fruity sweet" FO's turn neon yellow the moment they hit the batter, but eventually cure to brown.

yeah I don't think it was the vanilla discoloring. Otherwise wouldn't it have been brown all the way through like my others? (speaking of which, my gorgeous peaches and cream is now tan.. argh.)

The re-cut ones are turning brown as well, something about the air hitting them. Dangit.

Let me dig up my salt bar recipe for you - it was really basic. Mostly coconut oil, a little olive and grapeseed (mostly coconut though so it lathers with the salt). It was a 1lb batch, and I added about 3/4lb of salt at light trace. That's it!

Mine used tomato paste in the liquid, Tomato Leaf FO and Sweet Basil EO.

That's exactly it. Once it oxidizes, it will discolor.

All the soaps look great, but I love the salt bars. What type of salt did you use?

I'm sticking with herbs/botanicals and more EO's. I am tired of my soap turning weird colors. I want to see some whitish soap.

Holy cow, have you got stamina! That's a whole lotta soap! They're beautiful. The salt bar is lovely - looking forward to seeing the recipe, as it is yet another type of soap I'd like to try someday.

nope - the vanilla doesn't turn the soap brown until it's exposed to light. So those nifty cut surfaces will brown now that they are exposed. what you have now is exactly what I would expect with a vanilla-containing FO.
