First time ordering from TKB & I can't decide what to order, they're all so beautiful! What are some of your favorites??
Also, how long does 1oz of their mica last? Part of me wants to order a TON of 1oz colors & the other part wants to just get a couple great colors in 4oz
 <-- me not being able to scale down my 'cart' when shopping for soaping goodies lol

TIA

My TKB favorites are YES. All of them, I have loved everything I got from there.

I think 1oz will last you a good long while, it's a larger volume than you think! You probably don't need a ton of different ones, I would say just pick out a few. They have very reasonable shipping, too.

I love the coral reef, and cosmic Carolyn, also the cosmetic florescent colors, I have tried many of those and love them. The shipping always surprises me it's so affordable. What I have in my cart now would cost $3.50 in shipping and be a nice collection of colors.

I second this. Personal fave is the hydrated chromium oxide green. I like the ultramarine blue a lot too.

I'm just a hobby soaper, but my sample sizes lasted me pretty much a year. I just reordered as I was running out of my most used colors, but I do still have a lot left from my first order.

Yes! Coral reef is such a gorgeous color along with Indian blue (which sadly I don't think is good for soaping :-|)
& With the shipping being so affordable it makes me want to add more to my order ;) :shh:

LOVE coral reef, along with everyone else it seems! Passion orange, copper penny are good for deeper oranges, swiss chocolate is a great deep brown, colorona bordeaux is a nice deep red, I like cosmic carolyn. Their pearl colors are pastel but very nice although the pearl purple is quite light and harder to get to show up in soap. Harvest yellow is a nice golden, slightly mustardy yellow. Until you're certain you love a color, I would get an ounce. It lasts a long time.

I recently got their neon colors, the non-cosmetic ones and they are fabulous! I think they are more vibrant colors than the cosmetic ones, although they are close. I posted a pics of some of the neons in their bags in the post below.

Have fun!

Thanks Newbie for the color suggestions & sharing those pics- they're brilliant colors!
I am having far too much fun already just getting my order ready :)
I can't wait to be able to play with them

These are all TBK and the ones I love. They have all been pretty stable for me except with vanilla fragrance. Just something I've noticed.

These are also from TBK and I love them for jello soap. I've used them in CP but they accelerate trace.

These two I'd stay away from because both have morphed to a yucky brown.

Hope this helps. If you can't read the names in the first or second pic just let me know and I will post the names.

Oh I forgot.

Buy small, test because a little goes a long way. Also finding someone near you that is in the business that also wants to test colors is a great way to cut down cost.

Find what you like then order large. It will last a longgg time.

:)

Thanks for sharing that pic! You have so many great colors- I see a few that I ordered :)
Yeah, I was browsing their site & couldn't find 1 grape purple (like you have shown) that didn't say it turned grey :(

Okay everyone, brace yourselves, I will share the secret of how to get purple soap. Ready? The secret is titanium dioxide. Yep, you have to use some TD to whiten your soap in order for purple to remain purple and not turn grey. Yep, that is the honest truth.

HTH

Marisa, that is quite a collection you have there. What is jello soap?

Hi New12soap,

Thank you for the tip. I will try again and see what happens.

I actually have more colors from other companies. I only posted tbk, I know another soaper and we order small and share. If I find a color that works well for my soaps I order large in what I really like and use the small samples for custom orders, gifts, or just for inspiration if I get new scents. When you order with someone else or as a group and share it's much more cost effective to try out more colors.

Again thanks for the tip for purple, you've inspired me to try another lavender.

:)

I'm sorry I forgot to tell you..

After I made a liquid body wash I add gelatine, jojoba, and colorant and slowly cook it on the stove. When it's ready I put it in a cute mold, or in a mason jar.

Hope this helps. :)

That sounds like so much fun- my kids would go nuts over it lol
