So I received 4 lbs of free beef fat and decided to render and do my first tallow soap. I cleaned it four times to get as little odor as possible. this was my fifth cp soap batch, and I used 40% tallow with 20% co, olive and castor, and a tad sweet almond oil. First I used relaxing by bb. The pic on bb website is such a deep, almost shiny rich brown and it is supposedly a sophisticated lavender vanilla....so with this in mind I decided to use purple and white to complement. I wanted a hanger swirl, saw a video on the gorgeous tilted zebra hanger swirl soap the olive green one with pink and white that looked like a butterfly when completed. Think it was a winner on one of the soap challenges.
***EDIT*** I forgot, rose clay was added to it as well lol! Totally forgot!

So first. I dislike the fragrance. Just am not really fond of it, though it isn't bad and I'll use it until it's gone. Just probably won't repurchase it. That's always a disappointment (huge fan of masculine scents here!).

Second, my brown color isn't as rich as the pic of it on bramble berry. Hoping it darkens, this is 24 hours old. Fingers crossed!

Third, I cut too soon. Dragged, broke a corner unmolding which I fixed. Gah, real nice.

Fourth, my swirls are only cool if I stand my bars on their side and put them bottom side to bottom side to emulate a butterfly lol! Well, I tried!!

I have a soap ball from cutting the ends and a little extra batter pour off that's circular.

Now I have to say, one thing I learned, this simple recipe is by far the most abundant and luscious lathering recipe I've made this far...and my other ones are much more complicated with seven oils/butters. Tallow is AWESOME! Oh, and 1 tbs sugar ppo. Sorry so long!!!

Thx:) here is what color morph I thought would happen. http://www.brambleberry.com/Relaxing-Fragrance-Oil-P3927.aspx
Click the thumbnail. I asked in a different post and irishlass said it'll continue to darken...Hoping so because not lovin this shade lol! Thx you guys. I was quite disappointed honestly, but once I lathered up I was blown away at how awesome the lather was compared to my other lard/palm/tallow free recipes.

I love the lather and bubbles of my lard and tallow bars too. It just gets better with age.

It's takes a lot of chemistry to duplicate what mother nature gave us. Tallow/Lard makes excellent soap.

Ok. Um I need some help. I used, in the way of colorants, purple oxide, TD to whiten, and that's it! I used the fo, relaxing by bb, and anticipating the darkening of vanilla scent, I used it accordingly and worked my detail around the fo.
I just got my hands damp and wiped before setting it upon my surface. Apparently a high vanilla fo that discolors a ton colors your suds???!!!

Edit...

Oh, forgot I added rose clay is in it. But I used 1 tbs ppo into the batter with the fo added...I suppose it is what caused the colored suds.....but it soaps lovely in spite. Ah well
