Found this while searching on Aliexpress for a cheese cutting board. And to me, it looks like the perfect soap log cutter! :-D Just a little small, so it can only take half a log at a time. Not expensive, $106 with free shipping.

I'm not gonna buy it, because I need something cheap, like a cheese board. I have supplies to buy too.

Here it is, just in case someone sees any use of it:

That was seriosly a loooong link, Kitten Love! And it is not an affiliate link or something fishy like that :-D

The url was automatically shortened, now it looks just fine.

I forgot that I can add pictures. Here it is:

I agree -- 2 cm is too narrow unless you're making specialty bars. If you could remove every other wire, you'd get 4 cm slices -- and that's too thick, IMO. I cut my bars at just under 30 cm (1 1/8"). There's no way you could modify this cutter to cut that width.

Bud Haffner has a single wire soap cutter listed in his Etsy store. It is in the same price range and it cuts whatever width bar you want.

I know you're in Norway, Rune, so Bud's cutter might not be an option, but I'd say his design is a better choice for soap and it's ready to go right out of the box. As you mentioned, a single wire cheese cutter would be a less expensive alternative.

Yes, narrow and aluminium. Not the best, no.

Cheese cutter is what I will buy. I want a single wire real cutter, one like Bud's but made in Europe (because of shipping costs), after a while. But for now a cheese cutter will do the trick.

I was sure I did cut mine about 1 to 1,5 cm thick. So it looked by eyeballing. I did not measure. But I did now, and they are 2,5 cm approximately. Boy was I wrong! That's why I thought 2 cm would be enough. But 2 cm for sure will be way too thin, yes.

It's funny how that happens! I have my eye trained to estimate small measurements fairly closely, but it took years to get to that point.

It also helps to know the measurements of handy body parts. For example, I know my first finger from the tip to the first joint is about 1 inch (2.5 cm). And from the tip to the knuckle joint is 3 inches (7.5 cm). That helps keep my eye honest.

I am so disappointed with alliexpress. I bought a couple of things that were perfect, but the last 3 items I got I had really bad experiences. I will not use them again. :(

Thank you, DeeAnna, I will now measure my fingers and see if I get better eyeballing skills :)

I have not have problems with Aliexpress, yet. Well, it has been some, but not very big things. One tried to scam me, but I got my money back.

I guess it depends a lot what type of things you buy. Some categories may be worse than others. I have bought mostly clothes, but also some other stuff. The clothes have been way too small some times. Maybe because I did not measure and picked the right size. If you use M or L you have to go for XXXL or something to make sure they fit.

Aliexpress is cheap chinese quality. But that is what we often are getting in local stores today anyway.

I bought two spatulas from a grocery store. Both broke the first time. I bought two from another grocery store, some that did look much better and more sturdy. One of them broke the first time I used it. So now, I will order spatulas from Aliexpress. At least I can pay less, and they can't be worse than what we have in grocery stores here. I can of course go to a kitchen specialist store. But their spatulas are too expensive again. So Aliexpress it will be. But I'm expecting them to break as well. We will see.

I actually should rather go to a thrift store. Retro/vintage kitchen utensils never brake. That is THE best quality available.

I've had good luck with AliExpress too. I've bought 30 some items, no issues with any except for dreadfully slow shipping to Canada. You can't beat their price for silicone stuff. Molds, spatulas, dish scrubbers, texture mats... They've all been perfect!
