Hi all :D

I waited 3 weeks then absolutely had to use a bar of my third CP batch, called 'Lime in de Coconut' - I know, not very original but I had that song going thru my head the whole time I was blending

I thank every single person who has posted to this forum as I have read so much good advice and gained so much confidence here - you are all fantastic!

Well, it is absolute divine! I cannot believe how clever I am (lol)...not really, however I did decide on the oils and additives without reference to any recipe, just what I thought would be nice, then ran it through MMS lye calc and superfatted at 8%. Because I added coconut milk powder and fresh lime juice I have now found out that this made it a much higher superfat level  Still it unmoulded fine after 2 days, and is a dream to shower with. It lathers well and leaves my skin feeling soft to the touch and very silky. Yum!!!

Can it be the shea do you think? Or just the synergy of the ingredients? My recipe is:-

300g Virgin CO (76 degree)
300g RBO
185g EVOO
100g Shea Butter
15g Avocado Oil with Lime Oil infused
298g Filtered Water, less 1/3 cup volume made up with lime juice at trace
126g NaOH

At light trace I added the avocado oil, lime juice blended with 1 rounded tbsp coconut milk powder, grated zest of 3 limes and 3 tsp lime EO and 1 tsp sweet orange EO - blended all in well and poured in my mould. This gelled really well - all the way out to the edges. Pics below.

WOW

Oh yes, you are the clever one alright.
There will be no stopping you now.
I can almost smell it from here.
Now I wonder if that soap is in the surprise swap pack.
No don't tell me.
Gotta be a surpise.

Sounds wonderful. I hope to have the courage to try CP. I am so afraid I will mess it all up. lol

It's so creamy looking!

Don't you love RBO. I use it in every batch of CP. Good stuff.

Hey Tammy - CP is great fun! I soaped MP for 10 months before I plucked up the courage to try using the dreaded scary lye.....and it was a piece of cake (or soap :) ). As long as you are organised before you start and take the precautions you need to protect yourself from the lye mixture - long sleeves, socks or shoes, eye protection, gloves AND DON'T INHALE THE FUMES - it is all good. You will love it when you do it

Did the lime juice keep its scent?

Hi bassgirl. I actually don't know :? As I added an EO blend it didn't really need to for this batch. I may try a small test batch soon without the added fragrance to see. When it was first unmoulded it had a really strong, earthy, limey smell which I loved and DH said smelled like shoe polish!.....now it is a light citrus smell with lime accents and a slight earthy undertone which is from...what?
