I woulda talked about this in the scent area but I really have soap issue. My co, td and some nutmeg essentail oil that was on sale came, now call me silly but I thought nutmeg would smell, well...nutty.

but it didn't, it smells like a milder version of tea tree oil, which I hate. I still want to use the nutmeg because of that fresh/turpintine smell but I want to balance that with sweet and nutty.

I read the EO chart on here, and I have orange, and have used orange to death in my short soaping career, now I want, warm, milky, nutty, sweet...to go in my pure white bar (gonna put a hurting on this titanium dioxide I ordered

any suggestions

add a little cinnamon? I hate tea tree also, tried nutmed with clove, not good!

use milk maybe? i did that with an oatmeal honey and milk soap and i added the milk to the lye straight. i hated the smell at first but now it is a warm nutty scent.

cool! dumb question, can it be cows milk, evaporated milk?

i used 2% cows milk in the one with the nutty scent. it smells sickly sweet kinda like peanut brittle syrup or something. i think it stinks for the first 3 days but then it mellowed out and is a great nut scent now.

I was going to say 2% milk also, I used frozen milk cubes as my lye/water solution, also, I haven't experimented with this combo yet, but nutmeg and vanilla to me sounds like a great combo, sort of a hot toddy recipe.
One thing to watch though, I used French Vanilla FO or EO, probably FO in my milk soap and it smelled horrible for the first 3 weeks, then everyone told me it smelled like Anise/Licorice, only now about 4 months in does it actually smell like Vanilla, it's lovely, smooth, luxuriant (I think I made that word up) soap, but 4 months to get that way, C'mon!!!! And as I always say, even crap soap is still soap, so just soap away and you never know it could turn into a favourite.

Oh, and I mixed tea tree oil with lemon and loveeeeeeessssss the scent. Just my opinion, not nesecarilly the opnion of the sponsors.......
This has been a paid avertisment.
Guthy Renker....errr, not.
