Was just watching a You Tube video and a woman put the TD powder directly into the batter and it no problem dispersing. She was surprised as she has been soaping for several years and had recently come across this discovery that it can be added a powder at this time and stick blended straight in.

Has anybody else found this works for them? Or does everyone blend a little with oil or water before adding?

TIA :)

I usually blend the Td directly in to the oils before adding the lye same with micas if i’m only making one color. If not i add it directly to the batter just past emulsion. Sometimes i get little spots here and there but it usually blends fine. But my td is oil soluble. I gave up on premixing it cause it means an extra dish to wash.

I never put TD directly into the batter. It seems to leave specks (tried it once long ago). I use water soluble TD and pre mix it prior to making soap. With oil soluble TD I’d mix it with oil. I still got specks with the oil type so switched.
