When it comes to quality of tallow/lard and soaping, does it matter how healthy the cow is? I’ve seen endlessly about how good the grass fed and finished tallow is for the skin and for cooking but do the benefits stay intact through the soaping process?

Regular lard and tallow are just fine. Remember, the lye tears apart the fat molecules and creates a salt of a fatty acid. Aka...you no longer have fat...you have a salt.

They‘re also fine for the skin too, it’s just that so many people want “chemical” free because the internet keeps falsely saying that your skin absorbs everything. ( it doesn’t. But, sometimes fats and oils can help your skin absorb things it normally wouldn’t’. But that’s as technical as I want to get right now)

Thank you all for saving me some money! I have some of the grass fed and finished for skin things and cooking and was just going to use that but it hit me yesterday that maybe that would be a costly decision.
