Ok...so I am not all that new to soap making...but I just ended up making 2 large batches of CP soap from 2 Sunfeather soap making kits that someone had given me as a gift and that I sort of forgot I had  So anyway...the first one was a lavender kit...and I had no problems. The second one was the New Mown Hay kit....which I couldn't get to trace. I admit I did not check weights because I have made some other soap from their kits back when I first started making soap. And their kits have premeasured amounts (which they do not tell you the amounts anyway) of oils, lye and fragrance (and whatever other additives). So I just followed the directions that they print out for you (which is what I did with the lavender kit)...and I just couldn't get it to trace. I use a stick blender when making soap...which is what I used with these 2 kits...still nothing. I was actually afraid I might burn out the motor in my stick blender cause I have never had it get so hot any other time I have made soap. So I just poured the mixture in the mold and we will see what happens. What is the worst that happens?? And has anyone else ever had issues with the kits before? What do you think might have been the cause of it? The only other thing I noticed (sort of) was that I thought the 2nd kit seemed to have less lye than the first (I made them back to back so sort of can compare them)...but sadly I didn't really consciously (sp?) notice it in time to figure it out.

Anyway...I just wanted to see if anyone had any in sight....now that it is almost 1:30 a.m. here...I am going to bed....and will see what I have in the morning.

Thanks,
Sandy

Well, IF this company measured the lye amount right; you can end up with a perfectly good soap without ever getting to a trace.
I'd say just wait for a couple of days and see if it firms up.
