I've always made simple salt scrubs. One of the reasons is because I didn't use a preservative and bacteria won't grow in a salt environment. I am now getting into making more advanced bath and body products. It seems as though forum members favor sugar scrubs to salt scrubs. (unscientific observation) Just curious as to why. As soon as my supplies get here I'm going to attempt an emulsified scrub. I have a ton of salts (for bath salts and bombs) and would like to use them, but I don't want to miss the boat if a sugar scrub is somehow superior. Your thoughts?

Thanks,
Opalgirl

I like sugar scrubs because they seem to be more gentle yet efficacious, and because they don't sting.

I like salt scrubs because ants don't, because I don't necessarily need to preserve them (still on the fence on this one), and because they have nifty label appeal if I use various salts.

Yeah, I kind of like the appeal of "Sea Salt Body Scrub". Think I'll just stick with what I like. Thanks. :)

I find sugar to be more scrubb, which I like. As carebear said-sugar doesn't sting like salt can. I am always scratched up for 1 reason or another so salt would never do for me.
