I have a big, beautiful bottle of witch hazel which smells like my childhood. I would love to put it in a CP soap, but have had very little luck finding information on it. I've scoured the internet and this forum for ways to use witch hazel successfully in CP soap. (I know you can buy it distilled) but my bottle has alcohol in it so it may cause the lye to volcano, or the soap to seize. What do you think would happen if I boiled the alcohol off first? Does anyone have experience with this? Have any of you ever made a good bar with witch hazel? Any insight would be awesome, and opinions are more than welcome.

I've never used witch hazel in soap but if I were to try I would heat it up to burn off the alcohol first. I would add it at trace but would include it as a part of my water.

I would boil out the alcohol. You would probably end up with soap on a stick otherwise. I use Witch Hazel in my aftershave and facial toners. I don't think I would waste it on soap.
